Оказывается http://typesafe.com/stack платный для коммерческого использования.

В то же аремя Scala бесплатна, Akka и Play по отдельности идут под Apache 2.0 License
.
Кроме них в стек входит консоль.
Не пойму, это то единственное из за чего стек нужно лицензировать?

Я думаю, платность идет исключительно за суппорт и приоритетный фикс багов. См. конец страницы вот тут: http://typesafe.com/products/typesafe-subscription.

Я тоже так думал. Но открыл лицензию:

1.2 Development Use and Evaluation License Grant.
Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Typesafe grants to Customer, during the Term of this Agreement, a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right and license, to use the Software solely for evaluation and development purposes and in no event may Customer use the Software for production or any other commercial purposes.

9 Definitions.
...
“Development Use” means use of the Software for the development of customer applications only.

Я понял так, что для своей компании использовать сборку (стек) можно бесплатно.

Но если фирма планирует продавать свой продукт или кодить для других за деньги, то 'free Development Use and Evaluation License' тут не подходит, а надо брать paid Developer Subscription / Gold Subscription / Platinum Subscription.

Надо же! И подумать не мог, что свой сайт укладывается в "development use". Спасибо.
