Writing something is better than writing nothing, even if I don't have time to write everything, right? Right.

Germany! And Austria. (Munich, Salzburg, Heidelberg/Mannheim & now Frankfurt.) Items:

I never heard anything good about German food, so don't feel too bad - it does sound awful. Funny about the H&Ms - I went to Danemark + Sweden and there were so many there too, 2-3 in a two block radius seems about right.

Also, ugh, Dachau, I can only imagine. I went to Auschwitz and, man, what a sight. There are no words.

Hee, and I love H&M but my goodness, how do they manage enough business to support that?

Oh man, that must have been so intense. It's funny, you know the facts, but being there feels so different.

Oh man, I went to Dachau when I was 15 and yeah, it's a lot. Especially since I was with a group of Germans, and there I am, feeling somehow completely distanced from being Jewish while simultaneously more Jewish than I've ever felt in my life, and...let's just say the conversations on the bus afterwards were stilted and guilt-ridden.

I cannot disagree with you on the food. I think I spent several weeks of my time in Germany consuming nothing but buttered toast and tea, with the occasional pizza thrown in.

Hahaha oh man I hear you on German food being ALL MEAT ALL THE TIME. It was an adventure for the first few days and then I needed a break from it.

And augh, I went to Dachau as well when I was there and it was a completely draining experience.

(Psst if you're still in Frankfurt there's this little gummy bear shop downtown that has the best gummy bears in the worrrld just fyi!)
