Here is how I began my 30th birthday: everyone in my host family solemnly gave me a happy birthday handshake. Then I got a special birthday breakfast the mom had gotten up early to make me: mac & cheese with ground beef! Ahahaha, fantastic. I won't forget that soon ( Read more... )

Thank you and I'm sorry you've had to deal with all that! UGH, dismissive doctors.

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing. I've been struggling a good bit lately with my medical stuff, and I've realized it pulled me into a bit of a depression. Reading about your frustrations helps to remind me that I'm not just being a drama queen. Sometimes this stuff just sucks. But I'm still quite lucky to know what it is and to have some ways to deal with it.

Yeah, I'm so sorry you have to deal with all your craziness! Hope you're feeling a bit better about it.

I am waiting to get a diagnosis I'm afraid could be pretty serious in a couple weeks here, so it's really heartening to read about how you're adjusting to life with your new diagnosis. Rooting for you, and glad you will be home and more comfortable soon!

I'm so glad you're coming home, after meeting all the amazing flora and fauna. Happy birthday, and good luck coming to terms with all this scary medical stuff. It sounds like you're doing well, despite the awfulness. You are so brave! And it's okay to take time out from being brave, I think, since you know it's there in you to call upon.

Just one week, huh? I'm a bit jealous, actually--I've got five weeks left in Ireland, and there are many great things coming up in July, but for the past two days I've been essentially housebound by the kind of rain that soaks you to the mid-thigh within five minutes. I know you know what I'm talkin' 'bout. So a bit of Texas drought sounds like just the ticket. (for a day or two, and then it will be exactly what I'm complaining about next!)

Hooooooooooooooome!

Oh, the non-summers of the British Isles, I don't envy you that! But oh, Ireland! Were you actually in Dublin for Bloomsday? That would be amaaaazeballs.

Unfortunately, no--I was in Derry. I didn't plan that one well!

I'm so glad you are coming home, M, and will be able to work for the NGO from here. I know it's not the same, but maybe that is a good thing in this case, right? Yay, we'll be able to get together soon(er). Call me maybe? (OH YES I DID)

I must tell you I know a lot about s/i pain. It has been my old friend these many years. Well, particularly the last year and a half, I guess.

Oh man, is that the longterm post-pregnancy stuff you've been struggling with? SO SO MUCH SYMPATHY. It's crazy how it's something you don't even know exists 'til it hurts and then it's at the core of basically every movement you do. I'm so sorry. Is it inflammation or something else, do you know?

And yes! Perhaps more brunching and/or mixedupfiles and I can steal meet the miniature people you live with?
