Stolen from lowriseflare, because if I have to do another second of homework every cell in my body will explode but I have two more group meetings on campus tonight before I can go home and die:

So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious but you have no idea about, or something obscure you just have ( Read more... )

What's the most important thing you've learned since you've been married?

Hahaha, oh good, A SOFTBALL QUESTION.

Hmm. It's tough to say exactly because we've lived together for so long already. Can I just go with how weird it still is to say husband or wife? Or how nice it is to get health insurance from a really big company with all the perks?

Hee, I just asked him this same question, and he said "... about marriage, or just throughout life since May?" Then he suggested "Don't spend much time in Indonesia." So maybe that's it: DON'T GO TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD RIGHT AFTER YOU GET MARRIED. It turns out you'll prefer hanging out together.

Have you done much original writing? (I DON'T KNOW WHY I DON'T KNOW THIS!)

Ha! I have! ... but it's all poetry! So pretentious, I know. Sometimes I send it out to poetry magazines (and I was once published in an ESL textbook! Hahaha.), but in the past few years I've started appreciating it just as a way to record things for myself, too. Especially while I'm traveling, like: this may not win any literary awards, but I guess I'll remember these little details about what I was eating and the birds around the table etc etc.

(I'm basically just waiting to spring myself on the literary scene, though -- I figure it'll take me 5, 6 years tops, before they name me Poet Laureate.)

I can't see the other comments for some reason, it's just endlessly loading, so if someone already asked, I apologize! But I don't think I remember (or ever knew?) how you met your husband!

Oh good, how kind of LJ, who wants to be able to read comments?

No one has asked! We actually met at .... a pumpkin carving party! Which sounds like something from a bad romcom. It was hosted by one of my coworkers, who he'd gone to college with. Although he came with his then-girlfriend, hahaha. Then we saw each other again a month later at a danceathon in a gay bar. (It was a fundraiser for my job. That job was pretty awesome. ) Talked about Star Trek captains, he asked for my email address, I sent cheapmetaphor a text that said "I HELD HANDS WITH A BOY." And history was made, etc etc.

I don't know how you met Al, either! Were gourd innards involved???

Oh man, apparently I stopped receiving LJ notifications? WHO KNEW, THANKS LIVEJOURNAL.

But that story is adorable and the text you sent is the cherry on top, oh my god. :D :D :D

Al and I actually met playing dodgeball! One of the guys that ran our dodgeball group is a guy I went to high school with, and he was also one of Al's employees, and then we kept playing dodgeball a lot, and started going to pub quiz on the other nights and then finally I was like, I'm going to hang out with this kid alone! And five years later: A BABY!

Ha, I'm pretty sure my window of opportunity has passed, but if you get around to answering more questions...HOW ARE YOU FEELING THESE DAYS?! I should definitely know this...in fact, you should call me every morning and fill me in.

tl;dr!!! moireach November 10 2012, 03:33:08 UTC
I'll ALWAYS answer your LJ questions! Ugh, I am still feeling pretty shitty, unfortunately. I keep going back and forth on whether I'm feeling any effect from the Enbrel, tho' I'm just about to hit the watershed 4 month mark and I think the answer is going to be no. My hips HAVE been better, but my neck has been much worse. Plus the fatiiiiigue, oh my god, I had trouble climbing upstairs this morning. Wah wah. And I would kill to manage a whole 8 hours of sleep without waking up in pain.

I'm still fighting, though. I got a new, hopefully much less sucky rheumatologist!!!! Tho' I won't see him 'til the end of December. We ALSO got a new bed, which is much kinder to my lower back. And I'm experimenting with sexy substances like Voltaren gel. Plus I have big plans wrt lots of hot baths this winter. Oh, and I bought something hilarious and ridiculous called a theracane, that's actually pretty fun to use. So SOMETHING'S got to give, right????

How are YOU doing lately, physically or otherwise??
