I recall this episode of the X-Files I saw once. It was (I think; probably way wrong, it was ages ago when I saw it) about this out of the country village which had this deformed monster. Whenever anyone got sick, the monster came and ate them, then vomited them back up - They came back to life and were cured.
Eventually it was figured that the monster wasn’t actually a monster, but some dude, and every time he cured someone, he got their disease.
Everyone hated him because they needed him, but also because he was a monster.
I’m not saying what you probably think I’m saying. I’ve got no point here; it’s like the dude in the matrix movie says.
Old men like me don’t bother with points. What’s the point?
