FWIW, The Day After

I realize most of my f-list is probably feeling shell-shocked and sucker-punched right now, so I'm coming out of LJ-hibernation to offer a few reasons why you might, instead, feel guardedly optimistic that this was for both the short and long term good ( Read more... )

I suspect you will be the only (or at least most) friendly face for this post on my entire friend list, so thanks! Apologies for the typos, which I just noticed. Oooooops. But I stand by the substance.

If there was anyone better to point out these 7 main issues, let me know and I will stop suggesting you go into a career as a journo, political analyst or speech writer.

I don't think there is anyone better, and you've gotten to the crux of some things here- Hillary Killary Pudding and Pie is not someone you want yourself or your children following to the tune of.

America knows better, and has shown better. They showed just to PROTEST vote it away. See that? That's an unencrypted plain-text message unequivocally stating NO.

"A Whitelash" ??? Hello buddy, the other candidates were all white too, AND, the majority of the black vote went TO Trump. 'Splain that in context of your 'A vote for Trump is a vote against Blacks' argument.

fwiw, my two favorite political sites are Naked Capitalism and Ian Welsh. Ian is mostly to my left, the commentariot at NC is all over the place--mostly to my left but some well to my right (and if you have the enormous amount of time it will take, a lot of the commenters are very knowledgeable).

While he was VERY much for Hillary in the general, Adolph Reed is a BRILLIANT freelance writer whose stuff is well worth looking at.

Another freelancer who posts at several places who is, again, to my left but brilliant is Gaius Publius, and David Sirota, David Dayen, Matt Taibbi are worth looking at.

Trump did not win the black vote--he just did better than any Republican the last 3 cycles. He did horribly among black women, but better than expected among black men.

Yeah the "whitelash" comment was dumb and offensive. Van Jones is one of the better cable news guys, but I cannot defend that comment.
