Recommendation

I've mentioned this to a couple of you already, but I recently had a conversation w/a friend about how sad it was that more people did not know about Black Sails, so, here's a rec. I have talked three people into watching it thus far, three very different people, and all loved it. It's the sort of thing I would think stereotypically would appeal ( Read more... )

pirates, tv shows, black sails, best shows ever

In terms of scenes and episodes I find myself returning to outside my total show re-watch, the seasons rank like this for me.

1. Season Four
2. Season Two
3. Season Three
4. Season One.

I understand why you like four, though I can't share your love for it or even talk about without spoiling stuff for anyone reading ( ... )

I bought the first season, but it was so very violent I began dreading eps instead of having fun. I am a wuss.

LOL, of all the people to try it, you are one I would specifically NOT recommend this series to. Partly because of all the tv shows I have ever loved, this one is, if maybe not the most violent technically, the most realistically violent. I'm assuming you didn't buy today because of me? Hope not, coz I'd feel bad.

The fight 'tween Flint and, errr, what was his name? over the captaincy in the first ep was one of the bloodiest things I'd ever seen, at the time, but there were several more such things that equalled or surpassed it.

Not your cup of tea, I know.

No worries. (For one thing, I can't afford a cup of tea right now, we're so far in debt) but I got it a few eps into the first season, when several said how much fun it was. I should have bought a single episode to try instead of going for the entire season, which I never finished. I think I got halfway through, I still couldn't really tell anyone apart. There were some funny scenes, but not nearly enough fun to balance out the graphic grue, so I gave up.

Yeah, I get that. Financially embattled myself at the moment. Big part of why I'm not on here as much anymore.

Would say more but I have to race off.

And you're right; the humor is surprisingly effective; this is a serious drama (and eventually completely drops the gratuitous t&a when they realized tney didn't need it to attract viewers and the quality was sufficient)and a very dark one but the actors are brilliant. Glad you enjoyed that at least!

If you are open to new friends, I enjoyed your recent post in thequestionclub as well as your profile. I'd like to add you, but LJ is being an idiot right now and saying I have to "verify" my address (which is proving difficult); so, you're lucky and I can't add you or you are free to add me which will hopefully prove easier.

Either way, be well!!
