Disaster films are so over.

After reading the new xkcd strip I went to add Twister to my amazon basket.

This film was one of my favorites when I was around 11 or 12 and I watched it every time I had a sleepover. It makes complete sense that I watched it as a child, it came out in 1996.

Why is it that it comes as a shock that Twister came out 12 years ago?!

Disaster films are AWESOME. I will watch them no matter how cheesy! Hell, I watch Day After Tomorrow every time it comes on TV. And War of the Worlds is good for a little alien scare.

I'm weird about apocalyptic/distopian stuff. I LOVE it.

I have to admit I have yet to see either of thouse films, I obviously live in the golden age of the disaster movie era!

Also what's not to love about the end of the world!

" Also what's not to love about the end of the world!"

Bring it on, man, bring it on! (Or as Leslie Fish wrote: "Bring it down!")

For "War of the Worlds" my preference is Jeff Wayne's musical version, or the original radio version which scared half of American listeners when it was broadcast because they thought it was real. My mental 'pictures' for the sound-only versions are much better than any in movies.

Desaster films are great. One feels so happy safe on one's couch. And the happy endings make up for the dinosaurs and the plane tech problems.
Here's a story: plane gets attacked by giant flying dinos. I don't think they had this before.

I would really, really love to watch Independence Day, for which I have an unreaasonable fondness, with you.

And have you seen Deep Impact, Armageddon's more intelligent little sibling?

I LOVE Deep Impact! But nobody else seemed to like it.

Next time we see eachother (whenever that may be) we will have to have a disaster movie night!

Oh, so true!
My flat may have easy access for the raptors but there is easier pray available arround me to help with escape. Is that harsh?
