Does anyone out there have trouble sleeping? If yes, is there anything you can recommend (except sleeping pills)? I am sooooo overworked that my body just doesn't want to shut down and sleep. It's awful.
Reading in bed sometimes does the trick for me though, sometimes not. (But it's a recommended way of getting to sleep from a psychologist friend of mine.)
I only seem to get sleepy from reading when I actually have to finish reading something and have to try not to fall asleep.... Whenever I read in bed, my interest in the book keeps me from drifting away, it's very strange!
Some people are like that, so they say. Upon reflection I suppose it was a silly comment from me, because you'd have wanted to get to sleep, and surely you would have already figured out at this age, if reading in bed puts you to sleep, or keeps you awake. And you had.
Out of interest sake I enquired and it has something to do with a repetitive eye motion. In turn something perhaps, to do with nearsightedness and/or farsightedness - does ones eye move when they read. I wonder if that's the same deal when a hypnotist swings their pocket watch back and forth, back and forth, back and foooooorrrrrrrt zzzzzzzzzzzz...
i have found that valerian helps...i also found that a sleep mask for my eyes was a big help, though not as needed in wintertime, but a big help when it gets light earlier...other things i do is turn out all the lights about half an hour before you go to bed, i find that does make me sleepier early...i'm still bad for sleeping but those are a couple of things that help...
That totally slipped my mind. I found a Lemon Balm tea in my cupboard that is supposed to be good, and so far it's been quite relaxing. I'll get a Valerian one too. Thank you for that! As for the mask, well, I use that regularly as well as ear plugs. That does help MOST of the time :)
There are more natural versions of the sleeping pill like Valarian, camomile, etc. Also exercising you probably know, but doing a 'weights routine' i find the most helpful.
I was thinking it would be good, at least to burn the energy, but with all this stuff in my schedule, I can hardly find the time to exercise. I do situps when I don't have to get up early, but that's rare. Maybe I should try taking the stairs to 9th floor or something.
