There comes a time in one's life, and usually it happens over and over again as one gets older, when removing dead weight isn't as essential as removing counter weight. Dead weight can be fine, especially if it is someone who doesn't really require any effort. Occasionally you call, or they call, no big deal. Or, you talk all the time of nothing, accomplish nothing, go nowhere, but are both fine with that. Those aren't that bad.

But when you're young, you take it upon yourself to sometimes hang onto people who aren't doing you any good. As you get older, that energy becomes much more valuable elsewhere. So cutting loose some people is a very healthy thing.

And ultimately, screw em if they can't take a joke.

What a disappointment... anonymous November 8 2005, 21:33:05 UTC
You have "collected too many people"? Think about what you're saying here. It's as if people are merely objects to you...once they have served whatever purpose for which you're using them, you toss them like yesterday's socks. I'm more than a little disappointed that you would say something like this. I know the majority of the population (especially in Indiana) are under-educated, but really, I'm sure a lot of them are good people...at least people that would recognize the importance of others. And if you have to resort to such activities as "cutting time," then maybe you should think twice before you choose your friends. You don't have to worry about cutting me, because I'm realizing now that I've been gone for years.
