Because we've just had such a lot of wonderful new expressions from Elijah in Chile, I like many others, have made myself a set of five new icons. I can only have six and I want to keep my Moley one. The problem is that all five look poor quality and blurry while those of seen by others, bellewood and ladysnaps for example, look so much better. I've put up one for ( Read more... )

random_fandom posted a whole bunch of pics in this entry in elijah_finds.

They are all thumbnail pics that go to bigger pics when you click on them. But if you save them as thumbnails they can be used for icons. It includes the pic you were trying to use. Those might be clearer for you.

it's probably a combination of both moley. in photoshop, you can resize and sharpen photos among other things. the one i used here was soft, but i sharpened it, then added a second layer and softened that layer.

i made a couple others last night, and i'll be making more. ;)

I noticed the one I made for my default was a bit blurry, too, but this one (points at icon) came out OK. I'm not sure why.

This one's even a bit blurry.

It has to do with how many pixels the photo had originally. If it was low pixels, then when you change the size to make icons, it distorts them further. As Ladysnaps said, photoshop has a 'sharpen' function that might help make them not as blurry. I might give that a try, myself.

Thanks everyone. I know how to sharpen in Photoshop so will try that. I'm just surprised that some of the pics I used looked huge with a large number of pixels and yet the didn't come out well. Obviously, I haven't quite got the knack!!!
