If I had a camera, I'd take a pic of the Ti70 bottle that I, er, rendered completely useless during a prep last year - the bottle got stuck in the rotor and I had to autoclave the whole thing to get it out. Needless to say, the partly cleared cell lysate inside looked pretty nasty after that trip. So I kept the bottle. :)
And I definitely ran a Western backwards yesterday. Turned out not to matter much, as our developer is broken, but still...
Yeah, I sort of think it's more the "Oh God, I'm a retard" feeling rather than the actual lost experimental results.
And of course the applying to grad school compounds it all -- like "how do you expect to survive in graduate school if you can't even boil protein samples" -- which I know is pointless, but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking it.
I found you through the lab gripes community, and I friended you (I hope you don't mind). I love biology dorks (I'm one too!) Anyways, I totally admire your ability to not get completely PO'ed about stuff like that. I over-ran gels constantly, and at one point it got so bad that I just had to sit and watch my gel the entire time, because I just *knew* that it would run off into oblivion otherwise. But, hey, Friday night in lab? That's dedication! :)
I think the major reason I didn't get pissed about what happened yesterday might have been what happened on Wednesday (which I wrote about in lab gripes)... I think I had used up my quota of rage for the week.
