Hostage Situation on the US Cargo Ship

The news of this hijacking got me thinking back to my time in the Navy. At first, I thought a US Naval ship was being held hostage and was wondering how pirates even got close enough to take control of the ship. A friend of our had been in the Navy, stationed on a sub. He always said my husband would have been a perfect fit for the radio shack, because personality wise, they tend to be a bit "out there." Anyway, they were surfaced and got challenged by a bunch of Greenpeace folks in life rafts, who actually began trying to climb the sub. Our friend asked the captain what to do.

The captain, without hesitation, told him to vent the waste tanks.

The sub had been out for six months.

It was not a happy happy time for the Greenpeace folks.
