My Name

When this issue came up when I was engaged to a guy we were going to pick a new 'neutral' last name. That was my version of a compromise when I was young and nice.
Generally I figured that of the two people getting married you take the 'better' name....I mean if you family name is 'Wang' or something....XD

Good for you!

Last time I had a chance to think about this in any meaningful way, the guy was last-named Lee, and I thought if I hyphenated, I'd sound like an adjective of myself. In the manner of Holcombs.

But since then, I've decided I'll keep my own name, he can keep his, and we'll hyphenate the children's names based on gender: girls get mine first, boys get his. Since I'm basically polyamorous and less and less inclined to find one guy, it'll help keep the genetics straight on my complex family.

PS: I, of course, leave the loophole that if I do find one awesome person who makes me not want other loves, and id he has a really awesome last name like Storm or Thorn or some other thing that would sound good on a book cover, I'll consider taking his name. Consider.
