From my cousin, who also let me know voting for Kerry was essentially voting for an abortionist who condones gay marriage. This, my friend, is what we are up against.

What a horrific, mean-spirited, nasty and degrading bit of doggerel. Ugh.

So what does your cousin want to do then. Drop a bomb on all of them, so he won't have to pay taxes??? That's just silly...
As a European, I'm against Bush...but I know to little about Kerry to be for him :D...

It would seem, my friend, that SHE does.

And she doesn't understand why I blew up at her.

SHE does
Ow, sorry, I always asume cousin is male, because "kozijn" in Dutch is male. :D

I'm sorry that people think that way. I know it's not easy, but you must be more tolerant...

I am working on it.

And, no problem. I think ours is the only language that doesn't attach gender to that word.

Thanks,
J

I think what pisses me off most about this is that it taps into the ignorant, redneck fallacy that welfare pays enough to actually get by without working, when the truth of the matter is that many families on welfare are secretly moonlighting at McJobs to supplement welfare's piddly benefits. As for buying a house and sending for the relatives...well...get your ignorant relatives a copy of Jason DeParle's American Dream if they want to get the true skinny on welfare.

Christ on a cracker, what a world we live in...

I'll buy it for me, my dear. But my cousin (redneck, unfortunately, fits) won't read it, because, you know, well it's written by one of them liberal types, obviously.

And, yes, Christ on a cracker...

I should post my 2 responses to her sometime, but I am afraid of blowing up the Internet with the anger factor...

From what I've heard (and I have heard plenty about Filipinos immigrating illegally), it isn't that easy to care for yourself and provide for your family (if they're with you) in the US if you're an illegal immigrant.

Also, Filipinos speak better English than that :-p

*hugs* to J

Come on, HC, you don't think living on less than 500.00 US Dollars a month is luxury?

I am so glad to have you as a friend.

If I told her you said this, though, she'd say you are one of them.

May I borrow Hex, Maeve, and ack, the Bear for a few days? I have a mission for them (and My BAD on not remembering their wonderful friend's name).

US$500.00 a month is luxury, but perhaps in Philippine prices :-p I don't know what American prices are like these days, but that's equal to about 28,145 Philippine Pesos, which is more than twice my current monthly salary!

And yes, you are welcome to borrow Hex, Maeve and Peter if you need them :)

In El Paso, a very depressed area of the state, if you are lucky, you can find a room (a room--not an apartment) for 125.00 a month. If they throw in electricity, water, gas, etc..., then they'll make it 175.00. So that leaves you 325.00 for food. Forget owning a car. Forget health care (95.00 to visit the doctor if you don't have any form of insurance). A bottle of generic acetominophen (100 pills) costs 5.00. A burger, fries, and medium drink at McDonalds is about 6.00. A gallon of milk is nearly 3.00.

A 2 bedroom apt runs from 350.00 to 800.00/mo dependent upon the side of town you are in.

I hope the perspective helps. My country shames me at times with our opulence.

And thanks for Hex, Maeve, and Peter (guess what, I thought it was Peter, than I said, "No, that's the bad guy's name...).

If it helps, I voted in Indiana and cancelled this idiot out.

You should point out to your mouth-breathing cousin that citizen and taxpayer are not synonymous. But then, you'd have to explain the big words to him, beginning with citizen.

BTW, friended you back!

It helps; it helps!

I thought about using the word ethnocentric, but...
