This office will soon collapse under the strain of so many overworked employees. To make matters worse (for me, at least) my most terrible editor has decided to start acting up again. Today I have had 3 complaint emails from him. The most recent email is to complain that I have not yet answered his email from TWO FUCKING HOURS AGO. Never mind that ( Read more... )

Would it be at all effective to explain to him that you do process every e-mail you receive within (fill in the blank) hours, so there is no need to worry that something won't get done, and no need to send reminder e-mails? With a little aside that, since occasionally e-mail does get lost, please do contact you after (fill in the blank hours...or days...or never, ever again...)? Probably not.

But honestly, that sucks. Pissing you off is not going to make you want to try harder for him, so why would he want to do it? Plus everyone who knows you for five minutes knows you do an excellent job and don't need to be micromanaged. Gah.

Thanks for the props. I've explained things to the editor over and over and over. I've pretty much settled on the idea that he is just an asshat. Sadly, there is no cure for asshatism. He'll have to be put down. ;)

Perhaps I should include this ascii at the bottom of my emails as a "secret" threat to mean editors.
