I'm uncharacteristically chipper today. It really steams me up, what with my being a pessimist and all ( Read more... )

Wow! Hot photo, you!

I couldn't read the rest of it cause I have 2,000 scientists breathing down my neck for the computer but I'll try to email you from Nashville soon.

Sounds like a brainiac mosh pit over there. All hail the mighty conference. Miss you . . .

I miss you incredibly much! I saw the tackiest drumsticks at the Country Music Hall of Fame this morning and almost broke out in tears. (It's the drumsticks part that reminded me of you, not the tackiest part....)

I am longing for Starbucks!

Tuesday, right? And why were they tacky? PUH-LEASE tell me they weren't one of those pairs with like, ribbons and sparkles.

You're too sultry for your own good! It took a moment to articulate that, mainly because the first word that came to mind was "sautee". It seems you remind me of onions. But in a good way, I assure you. Whatever goodness could be extrapolated from such. ;)

Do I want to ask about the surgeon thing? It's a public entry, so hopefully yes. Generalised commiseration on surgery, anyway. I've been there, my mother has recently returned from such, etc etc. Let's throw a big surgery party!

I've never seriously tried a stringed instrument. Some inner part of me seems to scream "you'll suck!". Luckily I never had that feeling with drums. Phew! We did a little Enter Sandman the other night. Slightly hindered by the fact that only one guitarist knew it, and he really only knew a few riffs and not the whole song. *sigh*

Yeah, guitarists are SUCH a pain, no? If only everyone could be as awesome as drummers *sigh* :) I learned The Red Hot Chili Peppers' "One Big Mob" and "Me and My Friends" this weekend. So cool.

You can read all about the surgery in a friends-only post from like, two weeks ago. It's titled "Part Two- The Hospital." In case you're interested and all. A surgery party sounds like fun! We could make Jello shooters in those little Dixie cups like they bring your pills in and serve inedible food! IV's filled with beer! Play Pin The Scalpel on the Patient! YES.

Wow, learning one whole song a day. When will I be as cool as you? *dramatic sigh* ;) That wasn't actually sarcasm, even though 90% of my body is composed of the element irony.

So you had some sort of benign tumour involving a blood vessel? Sounds messy! Although I can talk, given that when I was a teenager, my surgeon's approach to my sinuses was "drill, cauterise, repeat!". Fun times... ;)

Ah yes, ze vodka jelly! I made them for one party I had. So much joy. So much pain to make them. Slightly less pain eating them from those foil muffin tray things than from plastic containers, though. But anyway, IV alcohol, YES! And IV to fix your hangover afterwards. Beautiful symmetry, that.

I gather so far that you're not online a heck of a lot, what with having a life and all. *rueful look* Well, I'm a comment-whore, so get used to always having something in yer inbox, baby! That sounded so unexpectedly dirty. ;)

One song-ISH. There'll be a measure I'll still get snagged on here and there :) For example, "One Big Mob" has numerous drum parts and different fills, and I like to get them more or less perfect (even though I know one sixteenth note won't make a huge difference, it's just part of the fun for me, getting it just right). So I'm still ironing out some of those.

And I LIKE having stuff in my inbox. This job is so boring, and LJ comments give me something to do :) And yeah, I'm pretty much only online 9-5 M-F. Sometimes Saturday.

Hobbits rule at life despite what music teachers say.... bemydestruction September 25 2005, 20:47:33 UTC
Awww you're gorgeous!!

I always wanted to play the upright bass in music class way back in junior high. How it worked was at the beginning of the year, you'd pick a number out a hat and then whoever drew number 1 got to pick their choice in instrument first and so on. For once in my life I like drew a good number, like 2 or 3 or something and I beelined for the upright bass but my music teacher told me I couldn't even attempt because I was too short. The heartbreak. The devestation. The discrimination. :[

Yeah, I hear you. I couldn't play drums in high school cause we could only have one drummer per class. We were asked to pick an instrument alphabetically (and my last name starts with 'W'), so I had to settle for saxophone.

Yessir. I don't adore that picture though . . . my cheeks look a little funny cause I'm lying down, also my arm looks fat (my arms ARE big, but cause they're muscular, not chubby) but other than that I do like the picture.
