LOVE the Hunger Games series. There's tons of (well-written) HG fic on Archive of Our Own (AO3). One of my favorites is by annakovsky - To the Victor, the Spoils - and is an AU, starting after book 1 (but making mention of backstory & characters from book 2, so mild spoilers.) Gorgeous fic, though terribly depressing.

One of my friends just did a HG fic rec post. I'll see what I can link for you. :)

The three-tome boxed set is sitting on my coffee table, waiting to be read. I'm very, very curious.

I love the hunger Games! Though it's such a gritty series.

i did quite enjoy them, but i did find it odd that teenagers on their way to certain death weren't more interested in getting laid as quickly as possible.

"getting laid as quickly as possible" I kept waiting for the sex part to show up too. Seemed to be completely missing as far as Katniss knew. I expect other less starving tributes were more focused on that.
