For all ~three of you who aren't on Facebook: I got my hair cut short and dyed bright red a while ago. (see new userpic: -->) My husband thinks it's super-hot, my mom thinks it makes me look "like a Brit" (whatever that means), my brother didn't recognize me, and my grandparents hate it. It's been entertaining. I never got into crazy hair-dying ( Read more... )

awesome! as i told you at dinner a few months ago, i love the red! having nonnatural hair is SUPER fun. i have great nostalgia for my days of purple hairdom. prolong it as long as you can! also, i meant to tell you -- don't know if you are satisfied with the red dye you're using, but in case you aren't, i *highly* recommend Special Effects. in my experience it lasts the longest and yields the most intense color of every brand i've tried.

YES you and tim should totally come here!! i dunno about ICECUBE --its at the pole, which i think would be slightly less fun (they don't have helicopters and there are far less recreational opportunities outside because it is really f'ing cold). it seems that there are lots of other rad physics & astrophysics projects down here. also it doesn't seem *that* impossible to get a job here... if tim is really interested, tell him to email me and i'll forward some tips.

Thanks for the suggestion! My current dye seems pretty good, but I am less satisfied with the prospect of continuing to pay someone else loads of money to keep dying it...

Yeah, IceCube is just the one I have the most connections to already. Other ones that would actually be relevant to what I'm doing are the South Pole Telescope (also at the pole, I would presume) and ANITA. Ah yeah, THIS is what astrophysics is about, coming up with excuses for awesome trips! (Madrid next spring, anyone? Rock.)

Oh and Tim says he would totally actually be interested ("because it's fucking awesome"). And hey, since it IS that impossible to get a job anywhere else, why not?

Wow, Blood Falls.

I'm sad we didn't get a hold of you while we were in London! Time just ran out so quickly. How long do you plan to be there? We have every intent of going back.

Bummer, it would have been awesome to see you and to meet Eli. Did I infer correctly from a facebook photo caption that you were staying in Bloomsbury? I'm actually a little surprised that we didn't just run into each other on the street. :)

We'll be here for another year, minus an awkward three months (Jan-March) back in Boston. So if you happen to make it back next spring/summer, definitely let us know!

Molly and Tim -- Joe and Evee and I would love to see you guys if you had the time. In fact, I'd love to see the other people who live in LA but am too lame and busy to see them as well. We're all here during the break...working.

Hair looked wicked btw.
