Hottest 100 aftermath - I'd have done better if it were 200

Feb 10, 2011 12:01

As my tweets ( 1 2 3) on Australia Day would have attested, I was significantly underwhelmed by this year's Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown.

Here's the list of the countdown and finally Richard Kingsmill has published the list of 101-200 which is always nice to see what narrowly missed out.

So how did my votes fare?

It's interesting to see how short people's attention span was for the top 100. Almost all the listed songs were pushed heavily (for various reasons, from actively trolling for votes to holding a big concert tour just before the vote was taken. Very little survived from earlier in the year.
Meanwhile I am utterly disgusted with myself for favouring a song which (only just) made it into the top 20, being Megan Washington's tribute to that French group whose name I've just forgotten. My next vote was #196. But then I wasn't expecting any other of my nominated songs to be featured on the top 100. And I was right.

all good molokov. I stopped caring a decade ago about how the world votes for my favourite music. These days i live in my own little world and cannot admit I even know the artists you are talking about... let alone the top 100. I might know some of the artists mentioned in it. I am at that time when I just relive the best of the 70's - a decade of fantastic music..
