What a beautiful book this is - and it's no surprise to find out that the author is herself an artist since she her descriptions are so vivid! I could almost feel the Tuscan sun and smell the flowers in the gardens!

Have you visited Dennis Severs house in Spitalfields? I just have to make an effort and go - it looks fabulous!

I hadn't heard of the author or this book ... but I like the cover image you've posted ... shouldn't judge a book by, etc etc ... but hmmm, I'm tempted to seek it out!
