My pastor gave a great sermon on Sunday & I won't put it all in here since it is long but in short this is what it was....
Parent gives their child money to buy some M&Ms. The child goes & buys them then sits down eating them. Parent comes up to the child & says, "can I have one?" The child says, "NO they are mine!" What this child does not realize is....
#1 - The M&Ms are in reality Mine (the parent) because I gave my child the money to get them.
#2 - I am bigger & if I wanted I could take them by force
#3 - I (if I wanted) could buy them so many M&Ms that their room would be full & they wouldn't even be able to eat all those M&Ms....
We are a lot like this when it comes to God & giving back what is His. He has supplied us with everything we have. Our home, car, job, money, etc. So why is it so hard for us to give back to him something that he gave us in the first place??? Our material things, jobs, homes, etc are a lot like M&Ms.... AND what we don't realize is....
#1 - God actually gave us our "M&Ms" so in all reality they are all HIS.
#2 - He is a lot bigger then us & if He wanted to He could take our "M&Ms" by force!!!
#3 - He could give us so many "M&Ms" that we wouldn't be able to contain them!!!!
God instructs us to "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me on this." says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven & pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:10
God will open the floodgates of heaven & pour out so much blessing if you just give back to him what is His....how awesome is that?!?!?!
