I nearly bought this for my friend's baby who was failure to thrive and now on a feeding tube (they didn't have her size though). What little chub she has IS something to be proud of! And besides that, chub is normal and healthy on babies. This is something for the under 2 crowd....they are babies. It would be different if it were for a 6 year old.
Hey there, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to your post! I'm glad to have you here on my blog, and I can only imagine the anxiety and devotion that goes into caring for a failure to thrive infant. Very happy that your friend's baby is finally thriving! I agree that chubby on babies can be part of the wide range of healthy and in the case of your friend's child the slogan is highly apt. My issue with this particular onesie centers in large part on the ambiguity of the notion of pride--namely, who is proud of the chubbiness? Is the child proud? Or the parents? From the way it is written, I would read that the child in the one who is proud. I'm wary of a slogan that ascribes preferences (and given the background of this blog) body-image preferences to such a young child. But I understand that it might mean a different story when the little one in question has had to work so hard for the "chub" at hand. :-)
