Bring a jacket if you're planning on going up Mt Washington. If it's 70 on the ground, chances are it's in the 40s up there. I went, but as a young adult. We have not taken the boys up yet, mostly becuase we want to do the Cog railway, and i only want to do that once.
You can check out the Conway Scenic Railway, as well as a train museum up there. There are alpine slides in Bartlett, but i'm not sure about the age requirement. You might (or mihgt not_ want to take a ride onthe Kancamagus Highway. There are lots of places to stop, see waterfalls, play on rocks, look at bugs, etc. On the other end is Lincoln, NH, where you can go up Loon Mountain on a gondola, and explore caves and trails.
How awesome! I think the boys will love it. We love camping but haven't had a chance to bring the little guy yet. All I can suggest is bring way more layering clothing than you think you'll need. It's gotten pretty chilly here the past couple of nights, and you're going several hours north of here. Have a great time!
No idea if you're looking for restaurant recommendations or if you'll be cooking all your meals over a campfire, but we love Peach's Cafe for breakfast and we have had excellent dinners at Stonehurst Manor and the Red Parka Pub. There's also a Flatbread Pizza, although try and avoid peak times if you're heading there.
There's a 5 and 10 store in North Conway which Joe and JJ loved exploring - tons of penny candy and small old-fashioned toys.
