I have the kids doing their journals right now so that I can have a few moments of peace and quiet around here. Works like a charm everytime. Well, except for Jake's occasional "mommy, is this enough writing? Ughhh, mommy, I don't want to write anymore ( Read more... )

There's the shoe pile game (only works once though)... take all the kid's shoes and through them into the same pile, the kid who gets both of his shoes and on the right feet wins the prize... of course you can have 2nd and 3rd place too.

And then there was this one we played at orientation... everyone (in shoes) gets in a circle, and then take off your shoes. One person (who's it) doesn't put his/her shoes in the circle. So "it" stands in the circle and says something like "my favorite color is blue" and anyone who has blue as a favorite color has to find another pair of shoes to stand behind. He who is too slow, is "it" and makes another statement "I can ride a horse" etc etc

And what about little kid charades?

Make them up ahead of time though, and have them pick it out of a hat/bag.

Or a treasure hunt? Like simple things.. or go with the eggs, if you have enough colors, like "find 2 red, 1 blue, and 3 pink". That way it can be indoor or outdoor.

Wow I haven't played T.V. tag in years.

You should also consider tunnel tag. It is very condusive to grass stains.
When they're tagged they are freezed and stand with their legs spread and to thaw them you have to crawl through their legs.

Hahah, I'd have very happy parents with that one. I'm thinking that kids dressed up for a b-day party might not be in the best playing-clothes. BUT, I think I'll have MY kids play that this afternoon, though!
