yeah, shes my best friend, love her to death, but computer stuff is not her forte.

but she does understand the CONCEPT of huge files taking forever to scan.

not to mention we also make use of the symantec veritas enterprise vaulting system. which archives emails on the netwrok server instead of ON HER C DRIVE.

well.

a .pst is a file where people store email. (stands for Personal Storage Table)

a "large" individual email size for people in her area is about 10MB (10485760 Bytes)so if EVERY SINGLE ONE was "large", she would have 880 emails in there.

the vast majority of her emails are probably under 50KB (51200 Bytes)
so upwards of 180,000 emails.

And Outlook starts to become unhappy over about 2GB.
