There’s even less rest for him, these days.
It all seems a bit too presumptive, too idyllic to be true, but maybe that’s because he’s only good in a disaster.
Right off the bat there's this sense of imbalance and tension and unease. You know something is wrong and it sets the perfect eerie tone for the rest of the fic. That last line is just soooo scarily true. It really seems like the Doctor gets no rest, that his only purpose is sorting out disaster.
“Did she leave because you changed? Did she prefer the ridiculous ears to your ugly mug?”
This is tremendous. The symbolism of the wolves (I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE) and the Doctor ordering them away, but even as he does they taunt him. HAVE I MENTIONED HOW AMAZING YOU ARE YET?

(I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE)
:D I love being able to write in bits of symbolism and Easter eggs into fic, and having someone point them out! And nine times out of ten it's always you, 'cause you're just amazing like that, bb ♥.
TEA IS APPARENTLY VERY POWERFUL STUFF.

I THINK YOU KNOW OF MY ADORATION FOR JACK AS THE CHESHIRE CAT SO I'LL JUST LEAVE THIS HERE.
YAAAY. OH, HURRAY ♥. It's the smile, definitely :).
It just hangs there like a phantom and you know something's coming.
Teehee. I feel like such a dreadful tease these days ;).

This is *gorgeous,* and heartbreaking, and clever, and ohhhhhh I've missed your words.
Aristotle had his planetary orbits, Euclid his geometry, Plato his paradigms on perfection, but these long-dead Greeks know nothing about the way she keeps taking his hand, and how the math might be wrong but it’s circular, it is - this trust and love and fascination, extending from her to him to her forever and ever, their lives already blended together by sacrifice and tea time conversation.
