Oh summer, how boring you will become in TV-land. No, let me expand on that, you'll be dull and lifeless. I thought it would be fun to make a post on my thoughts of this years season finales of Bones, Supernatural, and Criminal Minds since they're the only series I watch religiously everything they comes on on a regular basis. Fun to be had~
Bones
After last week's episode I think the big question on my mind was, "Did Bones and Booth seal the deal?"
Hart Hanson has really tip-toed around it and I kind of figured they did since, you know, after a major death that happens, the whole comfort in bed thing is to follow. But I totally didn't expect Bones to be pregnant. I mean, after Emily Dechannel announced her own pregnancy, everyone kept saying they didn't know what they would do so this finale really blew me away. It was unexpected and really left us wondering what would happen to the two now.
I have no worries about this. The fact that Hart skipped over the 'beginning' of a relationship and didn't write Emily's pregnancy in (but intended to write the character's pregnancy in anyways) comforts me that the two will still be the same but with a few huge life-changes coming on.
Next season? AWESOME.
Supernatural
Exciting! It was a two-hour finale and good God, I didn't expect some of the stuff they put into it! One thing I wished that they had written in was Dean trying to balance a family with hunting. To me it would have been extremely interesting. Could Dean handle it? What would he have to sacrifice? What would give out first, hunting or family?
In truth, I think I just kind of realized that they wrote it in, but in they're own Supernatural way which I should of realized but didn't (we all know I'm not perceptive). Dean lived with them, and the straw that broke the camels back finally did give out when Crowley used the two as hostages. In truth the two are always in danger because of Dean and he knew it. I'm kind of mixed on whether I liked that idea of Dean erasing their memories of him. In a way it proved what he was willing to sacrifice in order to let them live on but in a very sleazy way.
And the finale itself? I think it was inevitable that Cas would eventually go this route. I still kind of see him as a child in a sense - and sometimes a child can be painted any colour if you say some words and paint them in a pretty way. In each season Cas was loyal to someone because they had a convincing point, and in a way it backfired this season. Cas knew something needed to be done about Raph but didn't know what and Crowley gave him a way to do it - he used pretty words and Cas fell for it.
Unlike a lot of fans, I'm not upset by this change. Cas can't always be pure and I think he was always teetering on that edge about good and bad, right and wrong. We saw it from Day 1. It was the same with Sammy and his blood-drinking issues. He teetered and fell. Cas will probably have the same thing happen as well, but probably in less episodes since Misha isn't a series regular this next season.
Criminal Minds
Back last month (or something like that), A.J. Cook tweeted that she was officially signed to come back to Criminal Minds after the network decided to let her go. I'm not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. I think if she and the cast kept a lid on it, the season finale would undoubtedly left everyone hopping like the season finales I've mentioned up above. The finale wasn't even really worth remembering.
Instead the finale really left me concerned with who CBS would let go of in that, "Oh God... who's going to leave next?" I mean, if you're going to end the season like that then the network shouldn't be announcing whose contract has been renewed.
I just go into the series, but I've seen the rest of the season finales for it and let me tell you: if I were to rank them, this was probably the least favourite. Yes J.J. is back, yes the cast may go through changes if contract aren't renewed, but give fans a reason to sit on the edge of their chairs. No worries about casting but a cliff-hanger that would have made this June more epic than the others.
