Cord Blood

If you know anyone who is pregnant tell them about this.

The National Cord Blood Registry is in need of cord blood. (From the umbilical cords) You can keep it for your own family and have it stored somewhere for a hefty storage fee a year. Or you can donate it (free) to the National Registry and anyone who needs it can use it. Most often the cord ( Read more... )

I'm not sure what happened to Carolyn's cord blood. It is just disposed of if you don't register it?

If you don't keep it for your family and you don't donate it then they just throw it away. I think it is ridiculous...if the people aren't going to keep it then it should automatically be donated. We didn't keep Vincie's and because of his translocation it couldn't be used by anyone. This baby we are going to donate the cord blood. Then, hopefully, it can save someone's life. If you want to...post this in some of your communities, hopefully then more people will know about it.
