i know this really bad secret about someone. and boy would i love to tell the world about it! but when is right to tell? this person is not only hurting themselves but a lot of other people. i so want to confront them. but i can't! what they are doing is wrong and i feel bad for the other person who doesn't know! that's who i want to tell the most ( Read more... )

Tough one. If they are hurting a lot of people, maybe you should say something. It's a tough position. Maybe you tell the person who's secret it is that you know, and try to get them to confess? But if it really is hurting several people, I don't know that you can't tell. :(

If it's like a cheating thing, forget you know about it. NO ONE wants to hear that someone is cheating on them.

If it's more serious, like drugs, you should go to the person who is doing the damage. Unless it's like domestic abuse, in which case, call the cops.

Maybe people don't want to hear that they are being cheated on, but, I can tell you that it's important to find out. If I had known about Kym earlier, it would have saved me YEARS of misery.

hm. depends on how close you are to the people it involves. if you are close with the main person it is hurting,something needs to be done.

i don't know much about the details, but i think you should ask the person why they were motivated to tell you. and ask them what they expect you to do with the information. if it is hurting someone who is close to you, just tell that to the person who told you.

consider that if they don't tell the person and you don't tell the person, and the person finds out anyway, how will they feel? will they be disappointed in you for not helping them?

maybe tell her that you know-that a lot of people know-and that it's going to come out sooner or later. maybe that will motivate her to tell him...
honestly though i don't think it's your place to tell the person being hurt, especially if you don't know them well. i think confronting the person who is doing the hurting is more appropriate.
