I don't get it. She's almost 10. Who lets her get away with saying what she wants and doesn't want without taking into consideration other people? Does she live close enough that she can just walk home? You can bet your ass if my child said he didn't want to go to a family function that I already said we'd be at I would tell him to suck it up because we already agreed to go. Maybe there's a part of the puzzle that I'm missing.

My sister and my first brohter-in-law split up when my neice was about 9 months old. My sister was only 18, and didn't really want to be a full time Mom, so she didn't fight when Mike tried to get full custody. Til she was 3 everything was fine, my sister saw her 4 or 5 times a week, she came to visit all the time, spent the night with my mom a few times a month. When she was 3 my brother-in-law got diagnosed with pancriatic cancer. When he passed away, insted of my sister trying to get custody, her other grandparents kept her. Mike had been living with them while he was sick, and to my sister it just made sense to stay where she was. But the other grandparents don't like my family too much. We are true southerners, hunting and fishing, southern baptist, ya'll, kind of people. They moved down here from Michigan a little before my sister and Mike met. They don't think very highly of us, and have been planning to move back for a while now. The only reason they don't is because of my sister. We went from seeing her 4 or 5 ( ... )
