Listening to my thoughts

I went out to the local track today to do my short day half hour workout and I decided to get used to the "no music" walk/run. Instead of listening to music I listened to my thoughts and was appalled at the self-criticism I heaped on myself. in the non-marathoners guide, (which, by the way, you own) one of the ladies had the awesome idea to think of something she is thankful for for every letter of the alphabet while she is running. you should try doing that! i did that on my last run, and it took me more than a mile! plus it was fun. =)

also, focus on exactly how your body feels when you are exercising. actively try to *not* think for a few minutes and just *be*. that helps me a lot of the time. kind of like meditation...
