I've been slowly and subtly altering our diet in the last few months and it is getting serious now. I have told people we are going paleo for lack of a better label, but that is not completely true. I'm taking out most grains (wheat, rice, corn, oats being the biggies), legumes (beans, lentils, peanuts), and vegetable oils except for olive oil. I' ( Read more... )

I am working toward something very similar. None of us have problems with dairy, so I'm not limiting that, although I don't drink milk much. We go through a lot of yogurt here, though. But we're cutting out all grains and sugar (not Paul - he still eats tortilla chips and popcorn). I figure we'll still eat lentils or beans once a week for fasts, and I'll figure out something vegetable-based for the other fast day. I've swapped sweet potatoes for regular potatoes. It was my goal to lose 50 pounds before Miriam turned one and we were open to another baby. I gained more than 30. I just found this out yesterday and I am really upset about it. Baby is getting put off and I'm determined to get healthy in a reasonable amount of time and stop procrastinating, now that it's actually affecting our family plans.
