That's not a bad idea with the well-child checkups. I'm taking all three of mine in tomorrow afternoon.

As for Patrick, adjusting the basic things, such as environment and behavior, diet, etc should certainly help and, if he does have to be put on medication, will make it much more successful. It is better that he develops coping skills and know how to work within his limitations, than to think that there is nothing wrong. I wouldn't worry too much about his eventual success, public opinion is shifting the other way with the acknowledgement that many great minds were ADD/Autistic or similar.

As for Vivi, my two-year-old daughter, Marie, only really started speaking in the last month. Like Vivi, she has been wonderful at comprehension and following directions. I wouldn't worry too much, unless in 6 mo. she still hasn't changed.

oh hon, i know that is hard news to hear about patrick. i know it. but you are handling it well. and even though patrick is so young to be talking about add (other austism things not so much), if he needs it, he needs it. and although a label sucks, it does help. ha! reread my journal accounting the adventures of me tring to help out my student this year! its worth it, it really is. and there are so many wonderful people out there with great reasources to help.
