Has it become "cool" to spoil your child? I have a friend in real life that I was Christmas shopping with over the weekend. Well she had her 2 kids Christmas list to Santa. They are ages 9 and almost 11. She said she needed to get everything on the list. OK so EVERYTHING?? Mind you there were at least 30 things on the list. And some of them were ( Read more... )

I don't get it either.
I don't think you do your children any service by spoiling them like that.

Wow.

If mine were getting everything on their list Harvey would be getting an xbox 360 with all games, a real helicopter and a spiderman suit that actually allows him to climb up and jump between skyscrapers!

And people wonder why kids these days expect everything to be handed to them! I agree with you, Em. Their#1 item (if it's reasonable) and some other things within reason.

now my kids do get a lot, and my parents really do spoil them, but they still dont get EVERYTHING they want.

ross wants EVERY star wars lego they make.

now between my mother and i we COULD do that...but no.

My mom likes to do a nice mix of things they want, and other things she thinks up that are fun, as well as practical gifts (bedsheets, pj's, etc) so they get a lot, but its not a big day of "i get every single thing i want"
