For the past 15 months I've had to eat a much larger diet due to being pregnant & breastfeeding. This is the third week since I stopped nursing. I knew I had to drop the quantity of food I eat way down. Last week I guess I dropped it down too much. I was at work when my blood sugar dropped too low. Yup. I don't know why they don't ever tell you this in all the parenting "lessons" and "advice" you get while you're pregnant, but I learned it the hard way too: The single hardest thing about raising a baby isn't taking care of *them* -- it's remembering to take care of *you*!! I had to get really messed up, too, before I finally realized that if *I* wasn't in good health--emphatically including mentally!--then I couldn't do right by Marien. It's really hard at first, because the babies take so much attention, you feel like you're neglecting them if you take any time for yourself. I ended up having to keep a notepad, and write down one thing I would do every day *just for me* -- be it taking a walk, eating a nice meal, getting a bath or a nap in -- something. Good luck to you--trust me, once you get a little more used to them, it's not so hard to juggle everything ( ... )
