What a crummy week! I'm glad your hubby wasn't seriously injured, so sorry that your mom was. I hope she will make a full recovery. Will she have to go to a rehab center before she can come home?
Yes, Tomorrow she will transfer to the rehab center here in the same hospital. They have what seems to be a great program. She is doing VERY well, knock on wood.
That is a great relief. Have they put her on blood thinners? From what I've heard, blood clots are one of the biggest threats to survival after a broken hip among the elderly.
I'm sorry to hear this. Having had several falls myself, I think that they can't always be avoided, although they can be minimised. There has to be a better alternative than the meds your husband is on. Altered diet might be one option.
I'm sorry for your mum. I hope she isn't in too much pain. It sounds like she will be in rehab for Christmas. I'm guessing that she will be able to go home or to wherever your family gathers for at least a few hours?
Sorry for your hubby, too. I hope he feels better now.
Hubby has elected to just not take medication and live with the fact that it takes a bit of time in the morning to start the waterworks. He is fully recovered.
Mom is doing great. Only needing the rare pain pill and progressing rapidly. Rehab will be 2 weeks, if she can't come out we will bring Christmas to her but I will check on it. I guess it depends on her mobility.
I totally agree on the superiority of rehab centers. When I had my back surgery I wasn't mobile enough to go home after 5 days so they put me in a nursing home with a PT department. It was a totally different mind set than a rehab center. In a center EVERYONE is about getting things normalized. They even wear street clothing in the day and their own PJs at night. But it is in the hospital in case of emergency and since she is elderly and has heart conditions that is very reassuring.
Mom and her hubby live in a continuing care community where they have an evening meal in the community hall but live in their own apartment. It has an onsite nursing home but my brother and I feel strongly that rehab is not the same as nursing home + visiting PT so don't want that alternative. Happily she is well insured so she has alternatives. I am very aware of that privilege.
I've been out of town; a bit late and I would like to echo a lot of your friend sentiments. Take care and my thoughts an prayers are for good recoveries for all :)

I wonder if there is an alternative medication for your husband - maybe one that is herbal or natural in some way.
