(Drabble) Puppy-love

”Massu, please.”
Masuda tried to avoid Tegoshi’s big, begging eyes and pouted. “Why me?”
“Because I know that you will take good care of my baby. I can’t leave him at home alone; he would be all sad and lonely in my cold, dark apartment…Think about it, Massu. Would you want your baby to be at home all alone for hours?”
Masuda sighed and scratched his head before he gazed at the fluffy, brown puppy Tegoshi was holding in his arms. It wore the same expression as Tegoshi did at the moment, its big eyes begging Masuda to take care of it. The dog was like a Tegoshi in miniature, including the eyes Masuda had a hard time to resist. He sometimes was able to say no to one Tegoshi, but he surely couldn’t refuse two. He sighed lightly. “Fine, I guess I can watch him for a few hours.”
Tegoshi immediately shone up, his lips curving into a wide smile. “Thanks, Massu. I knew I could count on you.”
He handed the dog to Masuda, who admittedly wasn’t too happy with the situation, and kissed the older man’s cheek. “I’ll come by later to pick him up.”
Masuda nodded and leaned in to kiss Tegoshi, the younger responded happily. “Make sure to give him food, and after he has eaten, take him for a short walk.”
Tegoshi pointed at the small bag standing by Masuda’s feet, which had skulls printed all over it. “Everything you need is in that bag, okay?” Masuda nodded. Tegoshi smiled and placed a kiss on Masuda’s cheek and one on the puppy’s head. “Make sure to take good care of Skull, okay?”
Masuda smiled before pecking Tegoshi’s lips. “I will. Take care.”
“I promise.” Tegoshi smiled and waved before he closed the door and left Masuda alone with the small, furry creature named Skull. Masuda gazed down at the dog that looked up at him with an expression that was a mix between pity and happiness. Masuda patted Skull’s head and smiled towards him. “I guess it’s just you and me now.”
He put the dog down on the floor and watched how it ran happily towards the kitchen, and after nosing around there for a while it decided to explore the living room more profoundly. Masuda followed, just watched the little creature enjoy its adventure in his apartment. To be honest, Masuda wasn’t fond of dogs at all. He had been scared of them since he was a kid and had avoided them his entire life. But it had been impossible to avoid them anymore when he met Tegoshi, who loved them. Especially when the two of them had started dating, avoiding dogs became really impossible, because Tegoshi thought it was really practical to have Masuda babysit his Papillion Tinny. A few years had passed since then, and the dog-family had now gotten a new member; the four months old Poodle Skull. Masuda had to admit that Skull was cute; he actually resembled Tegoshi a lot, maybe that was the reason to why Masuda liked him. There was a chance that Masuda was imagining it all, but when Skull started to jump beside him and pick for his attention, he looked like Tegoshi did when he tried to do the same. It made Masuda smile, and he hunkered down to play with the dog, talked to him in a soft and high tone. “Are you hungry?”
The puppy just barked, and Masuda felt rather stupid when trying to get understood by a dog. He couldn’t help but smile though, and started to walk towards the kitchen. “Let’s see what we can find for you.”

Masuda felt quite tired when darkness fell outside his apartment. Skull had kept him just as occupied as a child would, when he wasn’t hungry or wanted to play, he needed to go outside. And when being outside, there were of course lots of other dogs that the puppy needed to greet, or some bush that smelled interesting. Masuda had thought that puppies spent most of their time sleeping, but apparently, skull did not. Even now the dog had energy left, and Masuda tried his best to entertain it. He looked at the puppy, which looked back at him with its big, black eyes. “Don’t you ever sleep?”
The dog tilted its head slightly. Masuda laughed quietly. “You’re just like your owner, did you know that? He never sleeps either.”
Skull jumped up at the sofa and sat down beside Masuda and started to lick at his hand. Masuda smiled and patted his soft fur. “Maybe you’re starting to like me, at least a bit.” He lifted the dog up and put it down on his lap. “Well, I’m starting to like you. A lot even.”
The puppy looked up at Masuda and yawned. “Tired?” Masuda smiled and lay down on the sofa, placing Skull on his stomach. “Me too.”

When Tegoshi opened the door to Masuda’s apartment, it was all dark inside. He wondered of Masuda had went to bed already; he was bad with late nights after all. After taking off his shoes and coat, Tegoshi tiptoed over the floor, and when he entered the living room he saw his boyfriend lying at the sofa, Skull curled up on his chest. Tegoshi couldn’t help but smile, and hunkered down beside the sofa, reaching his hand out to softly caress Masuda’s cheek. He got happy when seeing that Masuda and Skull had accepted each other; he wouldn’t have been able to stand it if they hadn’t. Tegoshi smiled and leaned forward to place a soft kiss on Masuda’s forehead. “I knew you would take good care of my baby, Massu.”
He smiled when Masuda made a soft, murmuring sound in his sleep. “But on the other hand; he’s more like our baby now, isn’t he?”

Hi everyone! I’m so sorry for not being able to update for such a long time; school kills me at the moment, and I just don’t have time to write at all. But I think it’s sad that almost all Tegomass-writers are on hiatus or have stopped writing, so when I got this idea I decided to type it up!
Sorry that it’s more like Massu/Skull than Massu/Tego XD (but I love dogs, so I couldn’t resist XD)
