*~*~*~*~*~*
Masuda walked behind an old man, a cardboard box in his hands. The man opened a door and nodded towards Masuda.
“Here’s your office, Sensei.”
Masuda bowed as much as he could when holding the heavy box in his arms and walked inside. He put down the box on the floor and looked around. The room was pretty small, white walls, only lighted up by lamps, because there were no windows in the room. There was a desk with a computer on and a couch in the room too. Masuda already hated it, but it would probably be bearable to work in there if he could put some paintings on the walls to do it more personal and homelike. After all, he needed to feel comfortable here, otherwise he wouldn’t’ be able to do his job as a welfare officer at this school properly. He felt a bit nervous, it was his first day after all, his first day at his new job, now officially a part of the society.
He started to pick up things from the box at the floor, placed them on the desk until he knew where he should place them. He suddenly heard a knock on the door frame and turned around to see a young man smiling at him.
“You’re the new welfare officer, right?”
Masuda nodded. The man walked forward and reached out his hand, still smiling. “Nice to meet you. I’m Yamashita Tomohisa, the school nurse.”
Masuda shook his hand and smiled back. “I’m Masuda Takahisa, nice to meet you.”
Yamashita looked over Masuda’s shoulder. “Do you want tome help to get everything in order here?”
Masuda accepted the offer gladly, and with Yamashita’s help, he got in order quite quick. No students seemed to need Yamashita at the moment, so he stayed, talking to Masuda about various things, telling him parts of his life’s history. Masuda told him things too, telling him all about the bullying he’d been through in his school days, and how that made him want to be a welfare officer, so he could help the kids that felt the way he had done. Yamashita had happily listened to his story and thought that he was great that wanted to help kids that were in pain, especially after what he had been trough. Masuda felt reviled to have such a nice co-worker, to have someone friendly just outside his office door made him feel a bit safer at his new workplace. After a while, Yamashita needed to go back to work, so Masuda started his computer to see if he could look trough some files about the students. He hoped that his first day at the school would be calm and with not so many students to talk too. His wish didn’t seem to come true, when he heard the first knock on the door.
He wanted to lie down on the ground and die. That was what he had told Yamashita when they sat in the cafeteria and ate their lunch. Masuda’s midmorning had been filled with almost only girls that talked about their problems, mostly about love. The topic didn’t interest Masuda that much, and he had no idea what the girls should do about their problems. But even worse, the girls seemed to flirt with him, fluttering their eyelashes under their bangs towards him. That was something that made Masuda utterly embarrassed and uncomfortable, and he didn’t even understood why they were flirting with him of all people.
Yamashita had laughed when he said that. “Masuda, you’re young and quite handsome, of course the girls will be all after you.”
Masuda sighed heavily, he didn’t even want to think about going through that every day. “They’re the same with you?”
Yamashita nodded. “That’s the way teenagers are, you should remember that, it’s not long since you were one yourself. And you should now how girls in this age behave around boys.”
Masuda thought that his afternoon would be filled with flirty teenage-girls as well, but it wasn’t, something that was a lucky turn of event for Masuda. He felt both curious and reviled when the first guy for the day stepped inside his office. The boy was a bit taller that Masuda and had black, styled hair. Masuda smiled towards him. “Hi there, what can I help you with?”
The boy looked down on the floor nervously. “Is there okay to come here just to lighten your heart a bit?”
Masuda nodded. “Anything that will make you feel better.”
The boy still didn’t look at him. “And you won’t tell anyone what I say here?”
“I won’t tell a soul. Everything that is said here remains between the two of us.”
The boy finally looked up. “If that’s the case…then I would like to talk to you a bit.”
Masuda smiled. “Just take a seat.”
The boy’s name was Kato Shigeaki, a third year student. Masuda looked at him, he seemed nervous, fiddling with the sleeves of his shirt. “You know…I have a friend. We’re really close, and have been as long as I can remember. We’re like…brothers, sort of.”
Masuda nodded at him to encourage him to continue. He took a deep breath before talking again. “But lately…my feelings towards him have changed. I don’t love him as a friend anymore…but as…you know…”
Masuda nodded, a bit happy to actually help someone that had a real problem, someone that needed his help. “How does he feel about you?”
Kato looked down on the table. “I don’t know…but not more that friendship…I think.”
Masuda looked at Kato and smiled. “I’m glad you told me, things like that are heavy to bear by yourself.”
Kato nodded, still just staring at the table. Masuda took a sip of coffee. After a long while Kato started to talk again, and sat there a long while, telling Masuda all about his long and close relationship with this friend. Masuda sat quiet and listened to his story, and talked again when he had finished telling everything.
“And now for the solution. To solve this problem, you have to know what you want. What a relationship do you want with him? Do you want to be friends or do you wish for him to feel like you do towards him?”
Masuda glanced at Kato, who looked troubled and sat quiet for a long while. “I think…that I wish for him to like me too…”
Masuda smiled. “Are you sure he just sees you as a friend?”
Kato looked quite unsure and started to fiddle with his sleeves again. “I…I don’t know…What should I do?”
“I don’t know, actually. You could tell him your feelings…”
Kato looked terrified when Masuda said that.
“Or you could try to forget about them and just continue to be friends with him.”
Kato looked down on table again, his eyes hidden under his bangs.
“You have to let your heart decide the answer. Let it take the time that is needed, don’t rush your decision.”
Kato stood up, and showed Masuda a little smile. “Thanks for listening to me, sensei.”
Masuda smiled. “You’re welcome. And just come back anytime you want.”
Kato bowed slightly before walking out the door. Before closing it, he peeked his head back in. “Sensei…is it okay to send a friend here? One I think has problems.”
Masuda replied him with a smile and a nod. “I will gladly speak to him.”
Kato seemed reviled and closed the door after leaving.
Masuda felt a bit more at ease after being able to actually help someone at least a little bit. That was after all why he had wanted this job, why he had been studying to be able to get to work with this.
The following days continued like the first, sort of. Not many students with really big problems came to him, but he actually started to like his job. Kato came again after a couple of days, and basically wanted to lighten his heart a bit. More than that, nothing special happened, and Masuda was quite glad about it, he didn’t want any really difficult cases on his first time as a real welfare officer.
****
That day, Masuda had a terrible headache, and he was close to count down how many minutes it was left until he could go home. One hour. One hour until he could go home and just sleep. He hoped that no students would come to him this last hour before freedom this day. But things never gets like you want them, because he soon heard a knock on the door.
A deep sight left his lips before he opened the door, gaze falling on a boy standing outside, smiling. The boy had brown hair, and big, beautiful eyes. Masuda couldn’t stop his mind before the word cute crossed it. He pushed the thought away quickly, forcing a smile.
“Can I help you with anything?”
The boy looked at him, and there was something in his eyes that made Masuda feel uncomfortable.
“You’re the welfare officer, right?”
Masuda nodded, tried to not look into the boy’s eyes. “What brings you here?” He forced a smile, just to be polite.
“My friend told me to go here.”
Masuda suddenly remembered Kato’s words about a friend that had problems, maybe this was that friend.
“Do you have a problem that you want to push off your chest?”
The boy smiled angelic. “Everyone has problems, right?”
Masuda nodded, uncertain of what to think. “Yeah…I guess…”
The boy pushed himself inside the room and sat down on the couch. “I would usually never do this. Do you get it? Never. But since my friend told me that you’re a nice person I thought I’d give you a chance.”
Masuda didn’t get this boys behaviour, behaving so superior and mighty. It pissed Masuda off a bit, how old could this boy be, nineteen? Treating Masuda like he was the child here, what a bratty behaviour was that?
Masuda closed the door and sat down by his desk, eyes on the boy. “So, who is it that is willing to give me a chance?”
The boy leaned backwards on the couch and crossed his legs. “Tegoshi Yuya.”
Masuda had heard the name before, but where? He searched through his brain for the name Tegoshi, and suddenly remembered where he had heard it. A guy named Tegoshi owned a really big company, and he could practically bath in the money he gained in just a week. If this was his son, then his behaviour wasn’t weird, rich snobs always treated “normal” persons like that, the ones Masuda had met did anyway. He took a deep breath and looked at Tegoshi again. “So, what do you want to talk about?”
Tegoshi smiled, and looked Masuda straight in the eyes. “Nothing. At least nothing that I hide in the depth of my heart.”
Masuda didn’t believe this guy at all, and felt the dull pain return to the sides of his forehead. He sighed. “Why did you come here then?”
Tegoshi still smiled, but something was hidden in his eyes now, something that Masuda didn’t recall that he had seen before.
“I won’t tell you now. I’m not…brave enough to talk about my problems with a completely unknown person.”
Masuda opened his mouth to say something, but Tegoshi continued before he could say anything.
“I know that this sounds ridiculous, but could we just…get to know each other? Then maybe I can…open up my heart to you…”
Masuda didn’t know what to say. This guy wanted to get to know him, and then maybe talk about his problems. That was sort of ridiculous, really. And the boy’s behaviour didn’t make it better, Masuda almost wanted to say no just so this boy wouldn’t get things his way like he probably always did. Masuda had almost decided to say “no” to the boy, but when he looked at him to do so, something inside of him told him to stop. The boy didn’t look like before, not as bratty and superior. He looked down on the floor, and for the first time, he looked like he was a bit…uncomfortable. Tegoshi lifted his gaze a little bit, to the table in front of him. “I know that the thing I ask of you isn’t especially suitable, and that you think that you can do better things with your time. But I ask this one thing of you, give me a chance. Please. I won’t be able to open up if I don’t get to know you.”
Tegoshi left Masuda visibly stunned with these words. He didn’t expect this. Not at all. It was like the entire boy had changed, just in a second. Tegoshi was serious. He wanted help with his problems, but was maybe scared, scared to tell them to a completely unknown person. But he wanted help, and Masuda decided in that moment that he would be the one to help him. Maybe there was something that was hiding behind the bratty and confident shell, sadness, fears and secrets that no one knew about. If this boy wanted to open up, but didn’t want to do it just yet, then Masuda would give him the time that was needed. He looked at Tegoshi, who seemed uncomfortable meeting his gaze. Masuda spoke to him with a serious voice. “If you need time, then I will give you all the time you need. I want to help you.”

Okay, I’m not sure if this story is good…the whole thing just popped into my head and I wrote it down, but I’m not sure if it turned out well or not…
I feels boring in my opinion, but maybe I’m just self-critical XD There wasn’t much love between Tegomass either…or well, almost nothing at all...but it will come, I promise XD
Anyway, comments are appreciated, because it’s worthless to continue a story that no one reads and likes XD
So please comment if you liked it <333
