In addition to all the sights of New York, I picked up a nasty cold which had me out of commission most of last week. I’m feeling better now, except for not having much of a voice: I hope I get it back in time to sing on Sunday

While you're looking at your azaleas, you can chortle over the fact that we have snow up here in Michigan . . . (not enough to ski on, alas. Rob in Maine has enough to ski on, though.)

Oh yes it is cold. And I didn't realize azaleas were rhododendrons until you posted that beautiful photo.

Oh DON’T make me think about next year please! And good call on the flower ID - very perceptive. The arrangement of flowers (and probably the size of the bush) is different, but they are indeed closely related to what I think of as rhododendrons, on the hillsides of the Smoky Mountains, and always blooming before we got there.
