mech_bull 's post about the high ludicrousness of this whole car-stopped-at-the-railway-crossing-just-as-the-train-was-coming-and-Reid-wasn't-fast-enough-too-get-out plot when a thought bashed me on the head and led to this one-shot drabble thing.
It may be a one-shot, as the main event I was trying to change plot-wise was changed for the better in the course of the story, but the story itself opened up so many new possibilities I'm actually tempted to continue :DDD
You can tell me what you think about that.
More detailed A/N will be added under the story as for now I do not want to spoil the that what is about to happen :DDD
It's unbetaed so all mistakes are mine, no infringement of rights intended. Basically this is pure crack even if it seems awfully serious at times. :)))) Apparently i wasn't good at short at funny today and ended up with a bit longer and somewhat mocking. ;> But the very idea made my day and made me forget the looming 'reality' of the show. With hugs for
sixtieshairdo .
It might seem angsty here and there, but it's still a crack fic at heart so nothing (too) bad will happen BBs. :)
Relocation
Reid's car of only two years of a usage history, and a perfect track record of car shop visits concerning nothing more than occasional oil change suddenly stopped in the middle of nowhere. What Reid could see around was forest, asphalt road and some more forest ,but not a living soul was in sight. Then again maybe he was lucky enough- after all his car did stop exactly at the railway crossing- but fortunately as he looked well both left and right- there was no train in sight. The railway track ran straight for a while, which gave him a good sighting range of at least half a mile on each side of the crossing, so he relaxed, left out a breath he didn't even know he was holding and tried to restart the ignition.
It didn't go off at all, not even letting out a hard choking sound which would have been a sign of engine trouble. The gas was there, all the controls were blinking signalling readiness for action, but the engine just didn't want to go off even after five or so attempts at starting it. Reid cursed under his breath and decided to get out and maybe try pushing the car off the track first, before he tried to ring for road assistance, but it turned out he apparently couldn't get out as well.
Not only the doors wouldn't let up but so wouldn't the stupid seatbelt, and Reid felt anger rising in him by the minute. He should be in hospital by now, passing the heart to Dr.Dixon then assisting in the operation, and then taking Luke home to- from the probable lack of energy for anything else- cuddle blissfully till morning, but instead he was stuck in a stupid car, on a stupid railway track , in the middle of a stupid forest ,just outside of stupid Oakdale. And then his anger was suddenly accompanied by other feelings: fear and much, much more of anger.
To his left- not more than 100 feet away he saw a train bounding at him at full speed. As he tried unsuccessfully to release the seatbelt and open the door, and his throat began constricting in a bout of claustrophobia, his mind tried to understand how exactly was it possible for the train to appear so fast and so close without him seeing or hearing it, but before he drew any conclusions he felt a weird tingling sensation encompass his body.

'Is the object immobilized?'- asked the High Commander Vork of the Chicago Mother Ship
'Yes sir' answered communication technician of second degree Trina.
'Is the biological copy imprinted with proper first response protocols and basic memory patterns?'
'Indeed it is' - Dr. Xalander- the xenobiologist quirked his perfectly human eyebrow at the commander.
Quirked eyebrow hinted at irony and irony hinted at the good doctor possibly developing human feelings, which was obviously a huge mistake for a Visitor. 'Soon'-thought the High Commander with malevolent satisfaction- 'soon I will test Salander's emotional state, find him compromised and get rid of him for good. I Idon't trust this conniving, slithery little lizard!'- he thought. Little did he know that for his part he started smirking involuntarily, and that his second in command- Dr. Xalander was entertaining similar notions about his commander.
Neither of them knew exactly how much the prolonged stay in Earth's close proximity has corrupted them already, how they were brimming with unnamed feelings they didn't really and couldn't even begin to understand. But they did know that something was wrong with the Visitors, and if it wasn't stopped fast enough, their race would succumb to chaos, turmoil and an unorganized warfare. And Vs hated anything that was unorganized. This is why at the special order of Highest Commander Anna, they were currently getting ready to intercept the most renown brain surgeon on Earth, who incidentally till few months ago used to emit a beautifully precise and reptile-like brain wave pattern until he himself fell victim of some weird disturbances commonly known as feelings . Strangely enough he still managed to productively serve his purpose in the society (however poor sample of a society it was) , and even develop some interesting new brain connections, without going berserk or acting insane. Most Vs contracted by the feelings-disease were not so lucky which his why now Vs needed this Earthan doctor for research and possible consultation. They would probably cut at his brain at some stage, but so far they needed him alive.
High Commander Vork wasn't exactly pleased at the thought of bringing Eartling on board as anything more than a feeding material, or research subject ,but as he looked at Xalander weirdly squinted mouth he discovered his second in command was even less thrilled then he was, which made him almost eerily happy. Which he did not like. Not at all. Gracious Old Ones- they were so deep in trouble. HI sighed before nodding at the communication officer.
'Techincian Trina, commennce with the operation'
He watched the young technician igniting the controls of the teleporter, then saw the immobile body of Reid Oliver's carbon copy starting to fade from the transport bay, while at the same time temporarily frozen in stasis real Dr. Oliver slowly filtered into the space over the other transporting pad.
At Xalander's nod Trina commenced the bio controls, and at that precise moment the newly transported clone open his eyes in time to see the lights of the dangerously close train, mere moments before it smashed into the driver's side of the car crushing it severely, and pushing it off the track.
' 60 % of bodily damage, severe bone fractures, projected demise in approximately 48 hours. Basic response and memory patterns in place sir. Speech pattern impairment highly possible sir!' - she reported.
'Self-destruction protocols?' asked Xalander
'The remains will evaporate in exactly 3 months, sir'
'Good. Now unfreeze the captive.' -demanded the doctor
'Sir?' - the technician viewed Vork warily, but he just nodded his head distractedly.
The controls buzzed with a strange humming sound as the stasis was terminated, and the real life Reid Oliver -who has so far been hovering over the transport pad still frozen in the sitting position- fell to the floor with a loud thud and a whole lot of cursing.
He looked around, saw some strange people in some unfamiliar... no not unfamiliar- even he wasn't so socially out of it not to recognize Visitor uniforms- so in Visitor uniforms surrounding him. He was angry, frustrated, and sexually deprived not to mention almost run over by a train which probably explains why the first words out of the mouth of such a polite and refined person as he considered himself to be were:
'What the fucking fuck??!'
He saw two male Visitors and one female one quirking left eyebrows at him in some sort of a synchronized communication attempt, just before he blacked out as the lack of sleep, stress off the day and his first teleportation ever ( *teleportation* sic!- his heart of the geek skipped a bit at that) finally caught up with him.
'Now, what did you do?!' -Vork demanded- 'We were only supposed to immobilize him when necessary!'
'I didn't do anything, sir' Xalander almost spit out the honorific while coming closer to scan dr.Oliver's vitals- 'He is 'a okay' Commander'
Again-he was clearly mocking Vork but the commander decided to let it go. Well, almost let it go.
'Be careful with the Earth jargon doctor Xalander. Highest Commender Anna is not as forgiving of ... imperfections as I am' - he delivered with a cold air of superiority before he turned around dismissively and walked away to the command center.
Xalander gritted his prosthetic Earth teeth in anger and stomped away towards the medical bay, while one of the junior staff members operated the hover pad with doctor Oliver's body.
Trina almost snickered at the whole appallingly non-V-like display , but she knew well what betraying any signs of being emotionally compromised would mean, especially in her situation. She schooled her features into a mask of reptilian aloofness, all that while mentally preparing for getting in touch with her 5th Column contact. This was going to be interesting.

A/N
The basic idea was Reid gets kidnapped by aliens, who need him for something so they stop his car to stage the accident and exchange him with his clone, which will die giving them enough leeway with using Reid for they nefarious purposes. Only, they don't really know Reid and one can be certain they will be very sorry they ever attempted this abduction. So as it is it was supposed to be a pure crack. And then I decided to use aliens from V 2009 ( the re-imagining of classic 80's s-f series) and they seriously began acting out all by themselves *scratches head*.
The Vs or the Visitors are this reptilian race (but in human-like disguise) that comes to Earth promising technological help for some of our minerals and such. Of course as reptiles they are cold, well organize, deadly and are definitely scheming something nefarious. They do not understand of care for feelings but while staying on Earth they seem to be developing them anyway, which they perceive as weakness and those that develop it are considered compromised and exterminated. The group of ppl/ and formerly bad-but-now-emotional-and-on-the-run aliens form basis of the resistance movement called The Fifth Column. I can recommend watching the series as it's really captivating, but as I haven't seen any episodes in few months now and I was writing this as a spur of a moment thing I took some liberties with the general idea (for example I don't remember all the alien titles an such). If I continue the liberties I'll be taking will be growing and growing, as I'm not taking into the account some major developments of the end of the first season.
Lol. I think I'm really getting into it. So what do you say guys? A crossover ATWT/V fic with alien abduction as a response to the idiocy that is the endgame? Feedback is love, and constructive criticism is a form of nourishment. Even if I'm on a strict diet ;PPP
Oh BBs even it it's not really as masterfully written as some of the amazing works in the community, I still prefer this AU over what they're going to do to us *shakes head in disappointment*
