Part - I

"Who's she?"

"Huh?"

"You just said, 'she's gone', right now, with your eyes closed. Who’s she?" His greedy eyes were hooked.

It was true there were several women in the past. Celebrity scandals, clandestine affairs. Beautiful, all equally cherished.

But she was something else. Unfortunately, old age had let her slip unwittingly. He lit a cigarette, leaned back and drew her scent in his breath. His blood fired with unbridled passion. Time and distance were a myth. He could summon her at will. Often, she came without calling.

"She was special, wasn't she?" The reporter grinned. Damn this sticky media!

Part - II

“Of course, I know it. I lived there once y’know”, her tone went from defiant to nostalgic.

“The globe, point it here”, her grandchildren screamed. Whom did they take after, she wondered. Her own children weren’t such imbeciles! But those impish sea-blue eyes..

Her finger landed assuredly on the globe. The disappointed challengers scurried away. She gazed at the world nuzzled between her arms and saw herself, plucking meadow flowers, skipping stones, dancing to an empty house and those sea-blue eyes fanning her desire.

She knew the time had finally come to keep the promise, to die in his arms.
