My parents informed me that this weekend the mulberries will be ripe enough to make mulberry pie! Mulberry pie is a tradition at our house. Each spring we pick mulberries off the trees when they are ripe, and then make pies from scratch using my dad's grandmother's old cookbook. Well, I only eat fruit I have picked myself, half the time . . . like berries. I don't eat berries unless I pick them myself, and can ensure that they are not mushy!

I don't like cooked fruit, though, so I wouldn't enjoy that experience, I'm fairly sure . . .

. . . but I'm glad you are enjoying your summer tradition ^_^ maybe some blackberries will still be ripe when you arrive up at the lake this year. The corn certainly will be-- though that won't excite you-- and the Port-a-Pit will be at its prime :-P

Actually, I've never eaten corn that didn't come from a store. There are a few sweet corn fields around here, but not a lot.
