I spilt water on my laptop at work yesterday.

It was de-ionized water, so it shouldn't conduct electricity, but it still broke my laptop anyway. It might not have been 100% de-ionized. Right now it's drying, and I don't know how long that will take ( Read more... )

Oh, man, I feel for you. I did the same thing two years ago, but with regular water. It was the worst thing ever. :(

Yes, it died a horrible and painful death. Mostly because I freaked out and didn't turn it off immediately, so the water had time to seep in and kill everything. I don't really know much about computers, but the harddrive was intact and the fine folks at Apple were able to replace the dead processor.

My laptop turned off by itself . . . I don't know if that's good or bad . . . maybe (hopefully *crosses fingers*) it has a "self-defense" feature.

(Actually, I am listening to "Introit" from Faure's Requiem, right now O.o . . . did you ever get a chance to listen to those, after I gave them to you-- or has the untimely death of thy fair computer prevented thee thus?)
