I LOVE THIS AND YOU, BOO. Love it all, surprisingly the first-person storytelling most of all.

“And there have been consequences, haven’t there? I don't get leads. My parts get cut, I get killed off, women leave me, my shows get cancelled. They’ve made damn sure I can only get so far.

“And the one time I did what they wanted me to,” he murmurs down at his hands, his voice going odd, “The one time I thought I was being selfless, and healing someone who needed it… well, they made damn sure I paid for that too.”
I feel like this is the best explanation ever, for all of that. I don't just love this story; I want to believe it's true!

Wow, I am totally blown away by this. I love canon AUs so very much, and this is just absolutely perfect. As others have said, the first-person storytelling and even the little acknowledgements of fandom worked so very well. I just completely believe this Dom, too, which is maybe odd 'cause of magic but he's so exactly him. Definitely one of my favorite things you've written. <3
