I think I've caught whatever Caroline had. This morning I had a sore throat but by seventh hour I thought I would collapse, I felt so weak. My throat and the back of my tongue feel really swollen.
Pictures of the spring 2005 couture lines are up at style.com so I thought I'd post about them.
Elie Saab:
Generally 'meh'--the
glitter comes off a bit
tacky sometimes--but there were a
few dresses I think are
beautiful.
Chanel:
Such a
sweet, ladylike
look. Very
romantic and
pretty.
John Galliano:
The concept is apparently "
Edie Sedgwick meets
Empress Josephine" and I think he makes it work. I love the kind of
reconstructed peacoats. The
empire dresses are
lovely.
Christian Lacroix:
Ooh, I
really love this
collection. I
don't think he hits one bad mark,
at all.
Overall outstanding, and I usually don't even like Lacroix.
Valentino:
Very
classic and
beautiful. Lots of good
potential Oscar
dresses.
And the rest I was pretty much indifferent about.
Also, men.style.com, which I love for some unfathomable reason, has the fall 2005 menswear lines up. I really can't say why I even care about menswear, but I do. It's about half ogling the models and half thinking about what I would wear if I were a guy.
Burberry Prorsum Men:
Overall, I like the look; especially the
skinny plaid pants. I really like
this coat, as well. I really hate it when they go
overboard with the Burberry plaid, though--so tacky.
Calvin Klein Men:
The
color palette is
gorgeous. Very luxurious jewel tones.
Costume National Men:
Has a
rugged but still
sophisticated feel to me. And I love love love
this suit. I don't know why but I find the sash kind of sexy.
D&G Men:
I am so not a D&G fan, and
this is just one example of why. Acid-washed jeans. Gag me. Also,
ugh.
Dolce & Gabbana Men :
Oh.
My.
God. Men should not wear pants that low-slung. No one should wear pants that low-slung; it's indecent. No matter how sexy hipbones are.
Missoni Men:
Missoni
always has the greatest
knitwear. Such great
colors and a nice
lean silhouette.
Pringle of Scotland Men:
Overall I really like the collection, although there are
some misses. It has such a
fun color
palette (I have pants almost that color!). I really love
this sweater. Plus,
kilts. Yay!
Viktor & Rolf Monsieur:
I think I may have said this before, but if I were I guy, I would wear Viktor & Rolf Monsieur all the time. Well, if I were a rich guy. Their
suits and their more
casual looks are always so
pulled-together. Plus, the model is really cute.
I think I'm going to take another nap now, I think.
