1. Describe in five words or less how you feel about Order of the Phoenix. (your initial reaction)
See previous post for initial reaction.

2. What are your feelings on Harry's personality? Do you think he is overly cynical, depressed, etc. . . .?
There were moments in the book when I wanted to smack him, but I think that that's a good thing. He's not perfect, and he makes mistakes, but that's what makes him *real*.

3. Do you think Order of the Phoenix is appropriate for children 13 and younger? Why or why not?
I think that it depends on the child; some kids are more mature than others. I definitely think this is a more adult book than the previous four, and I think that younger kids might not enjoy it as much. But than, it's Harry Potter, so they'll love it no matter what.

4. List your five most hated characters (either in Book 5 or the whole series, non-humans can be included).
I really, really, passionately hated Umbridge, which is why I think she was such a great character. She's so incredibly evil, but in a different, and I think scarier, way that Voldemort.
I've never been much of a Hagrid fan, and he really bothered me in most of his scenes.
And, um, that's only two characters, but I can't really think of any others.

5. Percy turned away from his family. Will he come crawling back to them now or . . .?
I really hope not. I think he's too stubborn for that, anyway. I think he'll stick with Fudge for as long as he can.

6. What did you think of the new DADA's punishment? Why didn't Harry nor Lee complain?
Oh my god. I was so *shocked* during Harry's first detention, when the words started cutting in to his skin. It was just so sadistic.

7. What do you think of James and Lily now?
Ah, the love/hate thing is finally canon. Hee.

8. Has your opinion (which is probably not too good) of Petunia Dursley changed? If yes, how so?
I think she seems much more human now, and I have a bit of sympathy for her, but I still don't particularly like her.

9. What's the meaning of Snape's nickname in your opinion?
That he's a sniveling jerk? I felt so torn, during the Pensieve memory. On one hand, I really love the Marauders, and on the other hand, they were being terrible to Snape for no real reason. Kind of the conflict that Harry was feeling, I suppose.

10. What do you think of the character death? Do you think s/he will return? The "death" of this person was vague and not very final; however, remember that JKR said she cried over this character's death.
Ah. This is the part I was so distraught about. Sirius! My second favourite character, after Lupin. I'm really unhappy about his death, because I feel it served very little purpose. I mean, it's not like Harry needed someone close to him to die to teach him a lesson about grief, or something. I mean, his parents are dead. He saw Cedric Diggory die in front of him. I think he's dealt with enough death by now for it to be something personal. And now Sirius, the adult whom he is closest with and confides in the most, and is also basically his father figure, is dead.
I also think that Sirius had a lot of potential and could go in a lot of different ways, but I guess not. :(
I think the death is definitely permanent. And I would be unhappy somehow bringing him back. It would be cheap, IMHO. But if she did bring him back, I know I would totally be like, "Yay! Sirius! Woo!" and all would be forgiven. Because I suck.
Ooh, also, Sirius/Remus is totally my OTP, so I really want to see some of how Lupin deals with Sirius's death.

11. Do you think fanfiction will be hurt by Book 5? Do you see any new pairings arising? Do you see any huge ships falling apart?
Meh, I don't think fanfiction will be *hurt* by it, but it might move in different directions. People will still ship whatever they want even if it goes againt canon. OotP was pretty unshippy, really. The Sirius/Remus shipper in me is heartbroken, but di you notice how they gave Harry a present together? That is such a couple-y thing to do. They were so together.
There were moments in Harry's Occlumency lessons where my mind was going to a Harry/Snape sort of place, but. Um. Yeah.

12. What was your favourite chapter in Order of the Phoenix? Why?
I really can't think of one favourite chapter in particular. Maybe, when I re-read it a million times, I'll come up with one.

13. Talk about Fred and George's "flight."
TOO. COOL. And I'm not a huge fan of the twins. But I was a bit surprised with how easy it was for them to get their brooms out of Umbridge's office.

14. Give some thoughts on Ron.
I'm kind of glad Ron made prefect and is on the Quidditch team. 'Cause usually, Harry gets everything and Ron just gets screwed. But I'm also glad he's not great at Quidditch, because it shows how not everyone is naturally talented at something but they can still work for it and improve and stuff. Yeah, cheese.

14b. Give some thoughts on Hermione.
Hermione kind of bothered me, because she's ALWAYS. RIGHT. About everything. And she still supports S.P.E.W., but at least it's not all she talks about.

15. What did you think of Dumbledore's explanation?
Urgh. This is what I didn't like about the book. The whole Dept. of Mysteries thing was pointless. And the prophecy really said nothing we didn't already know. "EITHER MUST DIE AT THE HANDS OF THE OTHER FOR NEITHER CAN LIVE WHILE THE OTHER SURVIVES..." Well, DUH. I think it's been pretty obvious that either Harry will kill Voldemort or voldemort will kill Harry. So why is Voldie so anxious to get the prophecy? It makes no sense.

16. Do you feel satisfied by this book?
Yes and no. I mean, I don't think I feel really satisfied until the end of the series.

17. How anxious are you now for Book 6?
Eh, I can wait. I mean, it's not likely that it'll come out any time soon, anyway. And besides, the fandom needs time for reading and re-reading and analyzing and coming up with more theories and writing more fanfic and such, so.. I can wait. But not TOO long.
