Need Some Advice

ETA 4/10/08: For those of you coming from her journal (I won't name it to protect the names, please note the following: Everything I said here was affirmed by the fact that she lost her job days later in a fury of drama and checked herself into the hospital twice (I'm guessing NOT because her life is so put together). I spoke to her in love and ( Read more... )

What if you find out two weeks from now that a child in her care was harmed or killed because she was high?

I don't think I'd go so far as to send her emails, etc. But I think you should call her director and say "I'm a friend, this is what she has said, this is what she's going through, can you do anything, like a random drug test, increased supervision, etc."

I can't tell you what to do, and I can't say that I know what I'd do, since I've not been in that situation.

You're right to be concerned for the kids she works with. And if someone who loses or regains their child(ren) because of her recommendation were to find out about this (or the court finds out), it could very well invalidate the decision--much like how the arrests of a corrupt police officer can be turned over even on a valid arrest.

There is no easy answer to this. Doing what's legal and doing what's right aren't always the same thing, but all we can do is what our conscience dictates. So . . . what does your conscience say?

I will not delete this post because it is full of the kindness and care that I've extended to you. I don't know why you've chosen to respond to me with such vitriol considering I've never put you down and gone out of my way to tell you your worth and how wonderful a person I think you are (see my notes above about who you are, what you do and how pure your heart is - dang it, I said I thought you would be wonderful at that job).

So this will remain so that hopefully when you are farther in your process, you will look back and see that even through all of this last year there were people known, or unknown who tried (and will still try) to care and support you in healthy ways that you deserve. There is no identifying information in the post (although that's moot now that you've put your name on it and linked all over your blog to it).

My offer remains open. If you ever need a place to stay, my home is open to you.

Maybe everything you right is a lie. I don't know. But the fact of the matter is, that I care about just about anyone and everyone and the things you wrote were cause enough for me to reach out to you and be concerned ( ... )

You're a fucking lunatic, if anyone needs help its you.
For Christ's sake, she was never high at work, she was professional as hell and bloody well going through hell at the same time. She would never put a child in danger; do you go up to the teachers in your local school and ask if they do drugs, because I know damn well professionals such as teachers use cocaine on their evenings and weekends off and some of them have bipolar disorder and look after kids every bloody day, without a problem, yet you're not bitching about them.

If you can't see that then you've got something wrong in your head. Just because someone is going through a bad time does not give you any reason to get involved in their life because of something you've read on the internet. Grow the fuck up and deal with problems in the real world. As in yours, outside your computer.

IT doesn't matter if she was high at work - she herself said she was at the least high immediately before and after - and she's said that she hasn't lied ( ... )
