what happened with the terry schiavo case was a disgrace. We, as a country, just gave people the legal right to kill others.

There were many of you that couldn't understand why the Schiavo case was such a big deal. Many were saying silly things like, "She's in a vegetative state so . . . ." and "I wouldn't want to live like . . . ." and "if she ( Read more... )

It's not that hard:

- If you're not gonna come back, like Schiavo or someone else in her state, you pull the plug. It's a waste of money, a waste of resources, you're not protecting life since it's hard to call being a zombie "alive", and it's cruel to make someone suffer like that.

- With terminal illnesses, you let people make up their own minds. Nobody but them makes the choice. If they lapse into a comatose state, you go by a living will or the decision of immediate family.

- If they are NOT in such a state, you keep them alive. Plain and simple.

I agree with the Schiavo thing, but if that is legitimately the case in Florida, then some judge needs to get their head on straight, observe the will, and file an injunction. Not too hard.

the case with shiavo was not the morality of letting her live or not, so much as it was who legally was closer to her: her husband or her parents.

But nonetheless, I think i've got to go with pat on this one.

And florida? well, we all know about florida. Its a pretty fucked up place when it comes down these politics, isn't it?
