So most of you already know, but our baby was born Monday night, 11/10/08, at 9:29 pm. Things went wildly the opposite of how we expected him, and we wound up with a c-section. Well, I've gotten to the part of my pregnancy where I can't seem to keep my belly covered no matter what I do. Today I ordered the largest pair of denim overalls I could find. Here's hoping that at least works to keep me from flashing my (wildly distended) bellybutton to innocent passers-by and young students.

This morning the heater kicked on for the first time since spring. Welcome Fall!

Jon has pretty much fully recovered from the summer's Heart Surgery Adventures. No weight lifting yet, but you know ... that's not a huge life adjustment. He is healthy and strong and better than ever. Hooray ( Read more... )

Well, turns out it's not the gall bladder. A HIDA scan, a CT scan, and an echocardiogram later, we find out that he's got a pericardial effusion, which just means he's got some extra fluid around his heart. It's pressing on his lower organs a bit, but not on his heart, so we've come home until Tuesday. We'll have another echocardiogram then to ( Read more... )

Jon is sitting over there in his rocking chair giggling at his DS Zelda game. The only parts of the day that are really hard now are showers and the second half of the night. We take walks around the neighborhood several times a day, and somehow Jon has come out of this surgery experience preferring whole-wheat noodles to just about anything.
